Last month, Tecno announced that the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) code-named The Beast would receive an Android Nougat OTA update and we dropped a guide on how to prepare for the update. Their announcement was followed by mixed reactions; owners of older Tecno phone models complaining about being sidelined. Truth be told, Tecno is far behind Infinix when it comes to pushing updates and bug fixes.

The Build Number of the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) Android Nougat update is A9-H971A-N1-170725V72 , making it the first Tecno phone to receive a Nougat version update and the second Tecno Android phone to receive a version update; the Tecno Camon C8 was the first Tecno phone to receive a version update.
