Last month, Tecno announced that the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) code-named The Beast would receive an Android Nougat OTA update and we dropped a guide on how to prepare for the update. Their announcement was followed by mixed reactions; owners of older Tecno phone models complaining about being sidelined. Truth be told, Tecno is far behind Infinix when it comes to pushing updates and bug fixes.
Anyway, a few hours ago, the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) received an Android 7 (Nougat) Over The Air (OTA) update from Marshmallow. The Build Number of the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) Android Nougat update is A9-H971A-N1-170725V72 , making it the first Tecno phone to receive a Nougat version update and the second Tecno Android phone to receive a version update; the Tecno Camon C8 was the first Tecno phone to receive a version update.
Prerequisites for updating your Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) to Nougat
Before going ahead to update your Tecno Phantom 6 Plus from Android 6 (Marshmallow) to Android 7 (Nougat), ensure all these are checked / done:

- If your Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) is running on a custom recovery then ensure to flash back stock recovery.img
- Ensure the battery is charged above 50% to prevent an interruption during the update.zip installation (in recovery mode)

This update has bugs / I don’t like it, how can I downgrade my Tecno Phantom 6 Plus back to Marshmallow?
Simply download Tecno Phantom 6 Plus stock rom which matches your previous Build Number from our Tecno stock roms / firmware collection and flash it using SP Flash tool

August 11, 2017 at 11:03 amYour Guide Was Really Helping Me, It Takes Only 13 Minutes to Upgrade, So Now My phone is Working Properly After I Get Android 7. But I Can’t See/Get The Battery Percentage in My Upper Screen? I Can Only See The Battery Percentage Inside the Battery Setting, Is There any Solution? Thank you in Advance.
